Supporting Change

The new head office for Sun Microsystems in Madrid responds to the need for flexibility in a changing environment. Key staff is young, highly qualified professionals who work with a high degree of interaction and autonomy. The office space reflects these values through a flexible concept that minimises owned workstations and promotes mobility and communication.

All floors are provided with a large proportion of support spaces such as touchdown desks for the nomads, informal interaction areas, formal conference rooms and concentration booths. Also, the 10,000 sqm building includes a large client area, designed as a showcase for Sun's latest technology. DEGW assisted Sun in this process by rendering strategic consultancy, space planning, interior design and engineering services for this project.
