Internationally Acclaimed Design Award for DEGW

DEGW has landed an FX International Interior Design Award for its work on the BBC’s White City Media Village.

The award, for the ‘Best Medium or Large Office’ category, was presented at the sixth annual FX awards ceremony held in London’s Grosvenor House last night.

Described as “the nicest office in London”, the BBC Media Village interiors impressed the judges who saw it as a ‘“proper office” - a workable space with the occasional chaos and confusion expected of a busy organisation while exhibiting many accomplished interior design elements.’

DEGW worked with BBC staff from 17 different divisions to create 17 designs. The judges commended the diverse furniture settings and bespoke textured walls used to achieve the individual identities within an overall scheme.

Holli Rowan, DEGW UK Managing Director said:
"We are delighted with the end product particularly as it involved such a high level of user involvement from a creative organisation with the challenge of an accelerated construction programme. The award is testament to a strategy developed over many years, together with BBC Property, to deliver great looking, functional workspaces that will ultimately contribute to quality programme making."

Tony Wilson, Head of Major Developments, BBC Property, congratulated DEGW on the award saying:
“It is a deserved recognition for a fantastic design and the great team of people who worked on the project. I think White City has redefined what good design means, particularly from the user input point of view, and it is an achievement that everyone should feel very proud of.”
