"The invisible cloud of electronic connectivity that now surrounds us all, wherever we are, means that the use of buildings and cities over time has become a critically important variable in environmental design.
It is no longer useful to rely upon obsolete temporal categories, such as the five-day week and the eight-hour day, to categorise office work or measure the environmental performance of buildings. Boundaries between what is work and what is not are shifting fast.
Work itself, connected by a universal network of communications, especially the growing component of knowledge work, is spilling out into ever wider and more complex spatial and temporal landscapes", says Frank Duffy, co-founder of DEGW in London in his latest publication 'Work and the City'.
