Space with Purpose: Stimulating, Supportive & Sustainable

Despina Katsikakis (Chairman, DEGW) presented Space with Purpose: Stimulating, Supportive and Sustainable, at the DEGW Annual Founders Lecture 2009.

This comprised an exploration of how the integration of people, process and place with purpose can be a catalyst to increase creativity, innovation and transform culture, whilst also being both sustainable and economically beneficial by leveraging time and place effectively.

A response was given by John Smith (CEO, BBC Worldwide) focusing on the transformation of BBC Worldwide as a case study.

After the presentations, guests were taken on a tour of the space at BBC Worldwide, a project for which DEGW undertook workplace strategy, space planning and design. It is a fantastic example of innovation in flexible working which focuses on collaboration and strong brand expression, as we well intensified use of real estate.

This inspiring event was DEGW’s 6th Annual Founders’ Lecture. The purpose of this series of lectures is to share ideas among colleagues and like-minded individuals to stimulate debate and thus contribute to London’s increasingly rich design culture.
